Mangar Health scooped the Most Effective Marketing Campaign Award at the British Healthcare Trades Awards which took place at the Park Plaza London Riverbank Hotel.
Mangar Health entered their recently launched new generation Mangar ELK Emergency Lifting Cushion and Airflo 24 Compressor supported by the #UpLiftingCare marketing campaign designed to highlight the need to lift uninjured fallen residents quickly and safely.
Simon Claridge, Chief Executive Officer from Mangar Health was at the awards evening to collect the accolade, he said; ‘It was a privilege to attend the BHTA Awards and a great honour to be walking away with the Most Effective Marketing Campaign Award.’
Mangar Health’s #UpliftingCare Campaign was launched to raise awareness on the amount of uninjured fallen residents in care homes being left on the floor for hours whilst waiting for an ambulance to come and pick them up.
Clare Birt, Marketing Director from Mangar Health who also attended the awards evening commented; ‘It was a special moment to receive recognition for our #UpLiftingCare Campaign and was a pleasure to work closely alongside CCGs, Care Homes and Ambulance Services throughout it.’
The Campaign was supported by CCGs and Health Boards across the country and included a project trail with North Manchester CCG & 20 of their care homes. Each care home was given a Mangar ELK and asked to use the cushion to lift uninjured residents instead of calling an ambulance.
Care home staff were able to safely and quickly lift an uninjured fallen resident in a dignified manner after assessing them with the West Midlands Ambulance Service guide known as ‘ISTUMBLE’.
Daniel Kelly, Manager at Chestnut House Care Home explained his thoughts on the ELK Lifting Cushion; ‘This equipment is an absolute godsend. We’ve used it 20 times at least, preventing 999 on every occasion. Residents are happier, families are much happier, and the staff find it easy and safe to use’.
The trail demonstrated a great success with more than £88,000 worth of ambulance call out costs being avoided over the trail period.
Another trail in South Wales had also seen ambulance call-outs to a Bridgend Care Home reduced by 55% in just 2 months.
Andrew Macphail, Strategic Key Accounts Director, concluded, ‘We’ve been working with ambulance services for the past 15 years and have a strong working relationship with them. In fact, every NHS ambulance has an ELK Lifting Cushion on board and the ISTUMBLE guide has been an integral part of the #UpLiftingCare campaign’.
