As the Met Office warns that icy conditions could cause major disruptions on the roads this weekend, it’s never been more important to make sure that your vehicle is prepared for a Winter emergency.
Listed below are a few essential items you’ll need to make a basic Winter car survival kit:
– Windscreen Scraper
– Torch with spare batteries
– Snacks (preferably in small packages)
– Warm hats, gloves, scarf etc.
– Small first aid kit with rescue shears.
– Road salt.
– Booster cables
– Phone charger with car adapter
– Rope or tow chain
– Necessary medications
Make sure you have your fuel tank at least half full before embarking on long journeys.
Store important items in the passenger compartment in case you can’t access the boot in an emergency.
If you get stranded try to avoid leaving your car. If you do have to leave, leave a note of your name, address and phone number somewhere visible on the dashboard.
